❚❚❚❚❚ IC.■ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Don’t count on it, but with certain trusted friends, Lara will hold hands or hug to show affection, gratitude, or other nice happy positive things. ■ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: She will fight back, and she will fight dirty, biting or kicking dirt up in your face if it means she’ll survive the encounter. However, she can be overwhelmed quickly in melee combat. ■ RELATIONSHIPS: Friendships yes, and she’ll hold them very dear. Romance? Unlikely, but will depend on CR. ■ MENTAL INFORMATION: Lara witnessed many horrors on the island of Yamatai. She watched several of the Endurance crew shot to death before her eyes and soon after, in a mad scramble for her life, managed to overpower someone but was forced to kill him. Her first kill did not settle well with her, and for a long time she pleads with the cultists to leave her alone, you don’t have to do this, etc. But soon even that goes away, and she kills as easily as she breathes – not that she’s particularly thrilled with that fact.
She also encountered the inhuman Stormguard and Oni, who string up dead bodies and leave them out on display. There are countless corpses, each in varying states of decay, all around the island, and there was even a crawlspace Lara crawled through peppered with actual body parts rolling around beside her. At one point to save her skin, she had to dive into a literal river of blood.
Not to mention she lost her guardian and mentor, Conrad Roth, killed in front of her eyes by an axe meant for her. Grim went down swinging, but still died to keep Lara from surrendering. Another friend, Alex, was killed in action while Lara could do nothing to help. Furthermore, their first attempt at escaping the island involved calling rescue pilots in to save them, only for the plane to be knocked out of the air by a freak (read: magic) lightning storm. Lara failed to save both pilots despite doing everything she could to get to them.
Needless to say, Lara has plenty of survivor’s guilt racked up. Coupled with the horror she’s seen and having been forced to take up arms against it, Lara leaves the island with her friends and her life, but with severe PTSD and major trust issues. She’ll put on a brave face but she’s not in a great place right now.
■ MEDICAL INFORMATION: While major things like any possible fractures or internal wounds will have been fixed by the CDC, Lara will have various scars on her body from her time on the island. The worst will be a scarred over puncture wound on her stomach and lower back, with evidence of the wound being cauterized. She also has a thin scar on the bridge of her nose. ■ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Do yourself a favor and don’t bring up how many people she had to kill. Or the deaths of her comrades. While this won’t trigger a panic attack necessarily, it sure as hell won’t make Lara very happy. Oh, and don’t sneak up on her. |
